The 2019 Ram 1500 engines with eTorque technology earn an award

The last time we blogged we wrote about the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and how it had just won an award for its fuel-economy ratings! So, it's only fitting that we announce that another one of our vehicles has just taken home an award for its fuel numbers, but it's one that might surprise you.

The winner? It's the 2019 Ram 1500! And if you get one with either of the two engines that have eTorque technology, you get to drive away with a pickup that has the title of "Most Efficient Full-Size Truck"

Now, you might have heard that eTorque is mild hybrid technology and perhaps that scared you away. Yes, it does use some technology that you might find on a Prius, but it doesn't make the engine weaker.

In fact, if you get the 5.7L V8 HEMI® with eTorque you'll get up to 12,750 pounds of towing compared to 11,610 pounds on the regular 5.7L V8 enine. You'll also get slightly better fuel ratings at 17 mpg in the city, 23 mpg on the highway, and 19 mgp combined. This is 2 more mpg than the non-eTorque option.

Two mpg might not seem like a huge difference, and if you're someone who doesn't drive too much then you probably won't really notice. But if you put a lot of mile on your Ram 1500 then those differences will start to add up quickly. And don't forget: you get better tow ratings!

The 3.6L V6 also has eTorque technology and a max towing up to 7,730 pounds.
